Harold J. Klosterkemper

Harold J. Klosterkemper, age 96, of Greensburg, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2020. He was born July 19, 1923 in Millhousen, Indiana, the son of August "Gus" and Leona Redelman Klosterkemper. Harold was a 1942 graduate of Delaware Jackson Township High School. He was a United States Army Veteran and served during WWII. On June 16, 1951, he married Helen M. Hellmich and together they had two children, Mark and Mary. He was the owner of Harold's Sunoco Service Station and was a Farmer. Harold was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church and the St. John's Knight of Millhousen. Harold was an incredibly talented Fiddler, his passion lead him to travel all over the Country to Fiddle Competitions. He wanted others to be able to share in his love of fiddling locally, so he started Harold's Fiddle Fest of Greensburg and the Power of the Past Fiddlers Contest. He was a member of the Old Time Fiddlers Association of Miamitown, Ohio, where he served as the past President. In 2019, he was awarded the Indiana Heritage Fellowship from Indiana University’s Mathers Museum of World Cultures.
Harold is survived by his wife, Helen Hellmich Klosterkemper; son, Mark (Darlene Keller) Klosterkemper; daughter, Mary (Ronald) Hamer; grandchildren, Jarrad (Ann) Klosterkemper, Eric (Autumn) Klosterkemper, Josh Amburgey, Jessica (Glen) Underwood, Rhonda Phillips and Christy (Mike) Lecher; great grandchildren, Hunter and Bryce Koors, Gavin, Jordan and Ethan Amburgey, Ryder and Julianna Klosterkemper, Ava and Roman Klosterkemper, Cody, Molly, Tyler, Brady and Ella Lecher, Emily Cook, Madison Phillips, Taylor Underwood, McKenzie, Mia and Kobe Perry. Harold was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Raymond Klosterkemper and Earl Klosterkemper and sisters, Alverta Green and Luella Kohman.
A Rosary will be prayed at the Gilliland Howe Funeral Home on Friday, January 24, 2020 at 3:00 pm with a Visitation from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at 10:00 am at the St. Mary's Catholic Church. Father John Meyer will be officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
