Joseph Michael Schasney

Joseph M. Schasney, 96, passed away on August 11, 2018 at Morning Breeze. Joe was born on March 16, 1922 in Lansford, PA the son of Slovakian immigrants Rudolf and Ursula (Gulla) Schasney. After serving in the US Navy Air Force in WWII, he married Margaret “Peg” Zucuskie on July 1, 1950 in Tamaqua, PA. Survivors include one brother – Rudolf Schasney Jr.; one sister Agnes Mikulski; his daughter-in-law Barbara Schasney; two grandchildren – Jill (David) Fuel and Thomas (Sarah) Schasney; and four great grandchildren – Cole, Hannah and Landen Fuel and Ronnie Elliott. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Peg, his son Paul, five sisters – Ann Nobile, Helen Schasney, Marie Benack, Verna Stromelo and Milly Schasney; and two brothers – Steve and Paul Schasney. A private funeral service will be held for the family. Burial with military honors will be held at a later date at the Sky View Memorial Park in Tamaqua, PA.
