Mareta "Gayle" McLaughlin Evans

Mareta “Gayle” Evans, 75, of Greensburg, passed away peacefully after a long battle with Alzheimers, on July 30, 2017. She was born on October 8, 1941 in Greensburg, the daughter of Harold and Iva (Hunter) McLaughlin. Gayle was a 1959 graduate of Greensburg High School. She married John Evans, on October 9, 1960, at the Sandcreek Baptist Church. Gayle was a homemaker and mother to two daughters Dianna and Lisa. She was a member of the Sandcreek Baptist Church. As a faithful servant of God she served as Deacon, Sunday school teacher, Choir member, ABWM member, Oyster soup-maker and custodian. Gayle enjoyed flower gardening, being outdoors, riding around the farm on her ATV, traveling, her grandsons, and her cat.
Survivors include: Husband-John Evans; Daughters- Dianna (David) Jacobs and Lisa (Scott Schwartz) Evans; and Grandchildren- Brayden and Hunter Jacobs. She was preceded in death by her: Parents and Brother- David McLaughlin.
Visitation for family and friends will be held at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home on Thursday, August 3, 2017 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be Friday, August 4, 2017 at 10:00 am. Rev. Harold Carter will be officiating. Burial will follow at the Union Baptist Cemetery. Memorial Contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the Sandcreek Baptist Church.
