Al was in my Mother's high school class of 1940. Only about 2 or 3 left. I attended many of her reunions. Most were parents of my classmates. Al Doles has always been a household name. Mother always spoke highly of Al. Two Al's in her class. There was
Al (Alfred) Henningsen. Charlie Shirk, & Mary Theobald remain.
RIP AL. You'll have a great class reunion in Heaven. They've all been waiting .....

I am so sorry to hear of my Uncle Al's passing. I just thought he was the greatest guy!

My memories are mostly of his character and mostly when I was young. He was always very patient and gentle with me and he seemed to have such a kind heart along with his strong work ethic.

Uncle Al, (or "Uncle Nel" as I called him) appeared on the outside to be more serious than those in my family but he did have a great sense of humor and smile.

I remember when we went to visit him on the farm he always greeted me with a welcoming warm smile and was always willing to give me a tour and answer my thousands of questions about farming. He even let me ride on the tractor with him. He put me on the tractor knowing it would shut me up - so he was smart too!

Al and my Aunt Mary raised a wonderful family who I always enjoyed visiting and playing with as kid. Aunt Mary said that my cousin Steve never got so dirty as he did when I came to visit. I took that as a compliment as kid.

I will miss my Uncle Nel. It was a blessing to have him as my Uncle.

I hope all of Al's family finds comfort in the great memories they had with such a quality person.
