Acree Martin Henderson
February 7, 1931 – March 26, 2020

It is with great sadness that the family of Acree Martin Henderson, known by many as “Hank,” announces his passing on Thursday, March 26, 2020, at the age of 89 years.
Hank will lovingly be remembered, honored, and celebrated by his entire family. He leaves his wife of 67 years, Mary Henderson; daughter, Janet Henderson; son, Jim Henderson and wife, Jan; granddaughter, Courtney Ward and husband Keith; granddaughter, Amy Harris and husband Jackson; and grandson, Andrew Henderson. Hank or “Big Papa” will also be forever adored by his three great-grandchildren, Kennedie and Lincoln Ward, and Wilder Harris.
Hank served in the U.S. Air Force as a flight engineer during the Korean War. After discharge, he worked as a civilian for the Department of Defense at the US Army Transportation Center Ft. Eustis in Newport News, VA. After retirement, he continued to serve in the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary through the remainder of his life. He was and is a man of honor, integrity, loyalty, kindness, and love.
A graveside service to honor Hank will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in Hampton, VA. Pastor Brian Spruill will be officiating, and his immediate family will be there to lay his body to rest, knowing his soul is alive in heaven.
Due to the current pandemic in our country, the graveside service is not open to the public.
