Dasye Webb Vellines

Dasye Webb Vellines, 91, passed away on Friday, April 20, 2018. Dasye was born in Roanoke, Virginia and spent her adult years in Newport News. In her early years, Dasye worked as a bookkeeper. She would later receive her education as a Dental Assistant at Virginia Commonwealth University. She retired from Dr. Robertson's office at the age of 65. Dasye attended Rock Church of Newport News for 41 years and was loved by all as the longest attending member. She and her husband, Junior, served as elders and she assumed the duties of the head usher upon his passing. Martin Junior Vellines and Dasye were married for almost 65 years. Dasye was a master gardener. Passersby stopped frequently to photograph her beautiful flower garden. For many years she blessed others with a bouquet from her 48 rose bushes. Dasye's greatest love was studying the scriptures. She loved Jesus with all her heart and shared Him freely with all she knew. Her knowledge and wisdom will be missed by many. Dasye was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, LaVerne Webb of Hampton, Virginia. Dasye is survived by family and countless friends who loved her deeply. A celebration of Dasye's life will be held Friday, April 27, 2018 at 11:00 am at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park.
