Obituary of June Fay Charnock
June Fay Bonniwell Charnock was born on November 11, 1936 to Agnes and Vernon Bonniwell in Hacksneck, VA on the Eastern Shore where she spent her early years. After the family moved to Hampton, VA, June met her life partner, Stansbury “Kemp” Charnock. They spent most of their lives in ministry together as a team. They were in charge of the youth ministry at Immanuel Baptist Church (Hampton) for about twenty years and had many fun meetings in their home. They were co pastors at Mountain View First Church of God in Chilhowie VA, and then served as guest preachers at numerous churches around the Eastern Shore. June and Kemp ran the Lighthouse Homeless Shelter and Ministry for fourteen years and were chaplains at Shore Memorial Hospital. June’s life was one of service. June was predeceased by her husband, Kemp and her son, Mark, as well as brothers, Jamie and Vernon Merle. She is survived by her son, Jim (Angelique) and grandsons, Patrick and Jonathan and a sister, Anne Eagle (Wayne) and niece, Beth Freeman and nephews, Buddy Eagle and Michael Bonniwell. June loved fishing, crabbing and camping and was a devoted grandmother and aunt. She went to every function of her grandchildren and hosted many memorable family holiday dinners. As she suffered a decline in her health, which required skilled care in a nursing home, she continued to be upbeat and had a never-ending trust in God. She believed God could use her wherever she was and in whatever circumstances she was in. The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM Friday, April 16, 2021 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Ave, Hampton, VA 23666. A graveside service will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Parklawn Memorial Park. Friends are encouraged to visit www.parklawn-woodfh.com to share memories and offer condolences.
