Obituary of Lakenhia Gould
Lakenhia Gould, age 43, of Hampton, Virginia passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2022. On Thursday December 1st, 2022 our beloved Lakenhia M. Gould went to her eternal rest. She was born on September 19, 1979 to Cynthia (Gould) Pritchett and Roland Gould in Salem, NJ. Lakenhia was born and raised in Salem NJ, where she received her elementary education at ST. Mary’s Catholic School and her high school education at Salem High School where she graduated with her diploma in 1997. After graduating from Salem High, Lakenhia furthered her education as an English Major at Old Dominion University in Hampton VA, where she received her Undergraduate and Master’s degree. Lakenhia had begun working on her PHD at Liberty University. Lakenhia was an English teacher at Woodside High School and an English Professor at Strayer University, Regent University, and the University of Maryland GC. She was an educator through-and-through and her love for teaching was evident by the many lives she touched and students who called her confidante and friend. When she talked about the classes she taught, she always lit up like a Christmas tree with her big passionate, infectious smile. Kenya's goal was to open her own school for young children. She was an extraordinary woman! Lakenhia was known by many names throughout her life: Kenny, Kennya, Kenya ,Gouldie, Minster Gould, Elder Gould and Pumpk’n, Lakenhia’s passion was serving the Lord, children and teaching. She was very adventurous, loved to travel, cook, bake, with Mac & Cheese being her signature dish and her homemade ice cream cakes were legendary. Lakenhia loved all kinds of music with Maxwell and Anthony Hamilton being her favorite artists, she loved singing, dancing, and writing poetry. Lakenhia began serving the Lord at a very young age. She joined The Tower of Deliverance Fellowship where her love for learning and teaching elevated her to serve on the Ministerial staff and became Minister Gould, she taught adult and children Bible study and was the Children’s Programs Coordinator. Lakenhia later became an Elder as many know her by Elder Gould, she truly had a passion for ministering, serving the Lord and helping anyone she saw in need. Lakenhia, Kennya, Kenya, Kenny Gouldie, Pumpk’n, Minister/Elder Gould, was a Good and Faithful servant as she walked the path that was laid for her until her untimely passing. She's survived by her mother Cynthia (Gould) Pritchett, her Step Father (James Pritchett), Sister (Sherrie L. Ford), Brother (Spencer Barriento) and her special little ones,: Olivia, Riley, Cheyenne, and Jace. In addition to Uncles, Richard Gould, James Williams, William Neal and Metteaure (Corky) Gibson. Aunts Etta Russell and Christine Nugent a host of cousins, friends and church family. She was preceded in death by her father Roland Gould, Grandmothers Mary P. Saunders and Mary Gould, Grandfather George Neal. Uncles Isaac (Ike) Saunders, Edward Nugent and Steven Gould and Cousin Andre R. Saunders. A visitation for Lakenhia will be held Saturday, December 10, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Avenue, Hampton, Virginia, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11:00 AM. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.parklawn-woodfh.com for the Gould family.
