OBITUARY

Loester Harding

Passed away on September 12, 2021
Mrs. Loester Harding entered into heavenly rest on Sunday, September 12, 2021. Born in Ruston, Louisiana, she was the daughter of the late Marshall McCarter, Senior and Doris Ann Lyles McCarter. Loester was unequivocally blessed and purposed to be the foundation and mainstay for her parents, sisters, brothers, and extended family that included hundreds of people. She was a firm believer in God and fully devoted to family and friends. She attended local schools in Ruston, LA and later attended Nursing School in Long Beach, CA. At the end of Earnest’s naval career, the family settled in Hampton VA, where Loester would be labeled one of the best private duty nurses in the Hampton Roads Area. She loved her patients and used every opportunity to show them God’s love by displaying the Fruits of the Spirit. Loester was a member of New Mount Olive Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Senior Choir for many years and was willing to serve and assist wherever needed at the church. Loester leaves to cherish her memory and carry on her beautiful legacy a devoted husband, Earnest O. Harding; son, John Charles Jones (Mona) of Chesapeake VA; Grandchildren: Cassandra (Hampton), Brandon (Chesapeake), Antonio and wife Melissa (Charlotte NC); adopted grandchildren: Renita and Anthony (Chesapeake); eight great grandchildren. She is also survived by: four sisters: Edna Turner and husband Charlie (Dallas TX), Doris White and Laverne Barnes (Oakland CA), Cleotha Garrett and husband Paul (Pleasanton CA); and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents; sisters: Margie Craig, Mildred and Glenda McCarter; and brothers: Hardy, Robert, Marshall Allen, Roosevelt, and Johnny. A visitation will take place on Saturday, September 18, 2021 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home located at 2551 N. Armistead Avenue, Hampton, VA 23666. The funeral service will be held on Monday, September 20, 2021 at 11:00 am at New Mount Olive Baptist Church located at 66 Big Bethel Road, Hampton, VA 23666 with a burial following the service at Parklawn-Memorial Park.
