Robert "Bob" Everette Williams

Robert “Bob” Everette Williams, 84, native of Asheville, North Carolina and 60 plus years resident of Hampton, VA passed away at his home on Wednesday, November 4, 2009. He served honorably in US Navy during WWII in the Africa, European and Asiatic-Pacific theaters aboard the USS Bainbridge out of Norfolk, VA and the USS Currier out of San Diego, California. He had worked as a ship-fitter helper in the Newport News Shipyard before the War and returned after the War until his retirement many years later as a Supervisor. Even though Bob worked in metal at the shipyard, he was a skilled wood craftsman.Bob was preceded in death by his daughter, Wendy W. Goodwin.He leaves behind to cherish his memory, Bernice Williams, his loving wife of 60 years; two sons, Kenneth F. Williams and Robert E. Williams, Jr.; two daughters, Bobbie W. Benson, Susan D. Williams; six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Justine Miller and Nickie Williams.Friends are encouraged to visit www.parklawn-woodfh.com to share memories and words of condolence with the family.Friends are invited to visit Sunday, Nov. 8 from 4 to 6 PM at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A Celebration of Bob’s life will be Monday, Nov. 9 at 1 PM at the funeral home. Interment to follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the care of Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Avenue, Hampton.
