On Thursday, December 1 2022 Sharon Stieffen, loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully at the age of 83.
A longtime resident of Buckroe Beach, Virginia, Sharon was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. After graduating from the University of Indiana, she moved to Virginia for a long career as a teacher and educator, ultimately retiring from Hampton City Schools. In retirement she frequently volunteered at Buckroe Beach and the Temple Sinai Sisterhood in Newport News.
Sharon loved nature, dogs, coastal living, art, and most of all, her family. The warmth of her smile and ease of her laughter conveyed a sincere compassion for the welfare of the people, places, and creatures she loved. Sharon touched her family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues in a special way.
Sharon is survived by her daughter, Alexa Witt; her grandson ,Andrew Witt; and special niece, Missy Schneider.
A celebration of Sharon’s life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in remembrance of Sharon and her four pawed companion, Coco be made to The Animal Aide Society.
