Betty Jo Earman Liskey

Betty Jo Earman Liskey, 88, a resident of Harrisonburg, died Saturday, August 18, 2018 at her residence. A daughter of the late Herschel I. and Gertrude Breeden Earman, she was born on November 30, 1929 in Penn Laird, VA and lived all of her life in Rockingham County and Harrisonburg. She graduated from Keezletown High School as valedictorian of her class. Betty was known as “Mimi” to all, she was a great cook, not to mention the best pie maker in the world. She was an avid reader and loved watching UVA Basketball games; and loved all her family very much. She was a member of St. James United Methodist Church. On August 1, 1948 she married Cleo Lincoln Liskey who preceded her in death on August 13, 1997. Surviving are five children, Dawn Hedrick and husband Dennis of Dayton, Cleo (Lin) Liskey, Jr., and wife Sharon of Mt. Crawford, Pamela L. Morris and husband Tommy of Rockingham, Joy Lane Liskey and husband Robert of Rockingham, and Ronald Keith Liskey of Keezeltown; thirty-three grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Lucille Clark of Harrisonburg, a special daughter-in-law Sharon Liskey, a special sister-in-law, Bonnie Liskey; and numerous grand-dogs. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Harriett Sonifrank and Marcelia Suter. The family would like to give special thanks to all her caregivers and First Choice Hospice for the wonderful care given to Betty. At her request, her body will be cremated at Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at 7:00pm at St. James United Methodist Church in Pleasant Valley with Todd Collier, D.Min., and Rev. Carrie Talbott officiating.
