Gene Fahnestock Rohart

Gene Fahnestock Rohart, 90, of Harrisonburg, went to be with her Lord Friday, July 13, 2018. She was born on September 18, 1927 in Linville and was the daughter of the late Roy Lester and Edna F. Hosaflook Fahnestock. Gene graduated from Linville High School in 1944 and lived her entire life in this area. She was employed with Ethel Irwin Lineweaver for three years, Wharton, Aldhizer and Weaver for 47 years, and retired March 1, 1995. She was a member of Linville United Church of Christ since 1943, and was church pianist, organist and choir director for several churches for over 50 years. Gene loved to read, play the organ and music; she also was an avid card giver for many occasions. On December 15, 1956 she married John W. Rohart, who preceded her in death on June 24, 1997. She is survived by her son, Michael Wesley Rohart and wife, Vicki E., of Harrisonburg; her siblings, Greta F. Cooper and husband, Gene of Linville, Gary C. Fahnestock and wife, Karen, of California, Garnette F. Cannon, of Fredericksburg, nieces, nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald G. Fahnestock. Friends may visit at the Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg at any time . A graveside service will be held 11:00 am, Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Linville Congregational Christian Church Cemetery.
