Dick E. Christ

Dick E. Christ, 92 of Huntington, passed away Saturday morning October 12, 2019 at Heritage Pointe of Huntington. Dick served in the U.S. Navy in 1946. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church for 68 years and was a member of their Men’s Club. He had worked for Indiana Bell Telephone Company for 31 ½ years, retiring in 1983. Dick was a member of the Isaac Walton League for many years. He lived in Huntington his entire life. He and Roseanne had wonderful lake homes at Round Lake and Lake Lelanau, Michigan. He loved lake life, fishing, hunting spring mushrooms, and cutting wood. He loved having his grandchildren stay at Round Lake. Dick enjoyed traveling with his wife Roseanne to Colorado, California, Arizona, Florida and Niagra Falls. He was a generous and loving family man. Dick was born on April 14, 1927 in Huntington, the son of E. Carl and Velma (Dyson) Christ. He was united in marriage to L. Roseanne Pohler on April 5, 1947. She preceded him in death on August 7, 2017. They were married 70 years. Survivors include a son: Scott Christ of Huntington; a daughter: Sue Ann Eltzroth of Huntington; 5 grandchildren: Ginger Christ of Texas, Scott Christ Jr. of Warsaw, Olivia Marley of Pierston, IN, Susan (John) Balagller of Leesburg, VA, and Deborah (Jesus) Luevanos of El Paso, TX and 9 great grandchildren: Jon Thomas, Olivia Eagleson, Jaden Luevanos, Ethan Luevanos, JoJo Marley, Alex Marley, Summer Pumphrey, Autumn Pumphrey and Raven Pumphrey. He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson: Michael Eltzroth and nine brothers and sisters. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 from 9:30 am – 10:30 am at the St. Peter Lutheran Church, 648 N. LaFontaine Street, Huntington, Indiana. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at 10:30 am following visitation at the St. Peter Lutheran Church with Pastor Tim Lorenz officiating. Interment will be at the Lancaster Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made out to St. Peter Lutheran Church in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
