Herbert M. Walton

Herbert M. Walton, 96 of Warren passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at his residence. Herb served his country during WWII. He served in Belgium, Siege of Bastogne, and Brest France in 1944. He also served in Ohrdruf and Musch Germany in 1945. He was a lifetime farmer in Huntington County. He was an avid Marion Giants and Indiana Hoosiers fan. He played baseball in his youth and was called to try out for the St. Louis Cardinals. Herb was a member of the American Legion Post 7 in Huntington. He was a lawn mower enthusiast and grounds keeper at Waltons Glen Archery Range.

Herb was born on July 23, 1924 in Huntington County, the son of the late Otto and Eva (Welker) Walton.

He was united in marriage to Pauline Tinkle on August 17, 1946. Pauline preceded him in death on August 1, 2002.

Survivors include two grandchildren: Michael Walton of Warren, Staccia (Michael Shockley) Grover of Huntington; seven great grandchildren: Ashlyn (Justin) Zeedyk, Julia (Alex) Arnold, Natasha (Tribecca) Grover, Zachary (Kara Yoder) Grover, Nicolas Shockley, Alivia Shockley, Katie Shockley; four great-great grandchildren: Julian Grover, Lexie Arnold, Stetson Zeedyk and Jacklynn Grover; and a daughter-in-law: Marsha Walton.

He was preceded in death by two sons: James Walton, Tom Walton, two brothers: Lester Walton, Paul Walton, a sister: Thelma Shrock, granddaughter-in-law: Vicki Walton.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 3, 2020 from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm with funeral service to follow visitation at 4:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana. We will be following the CDC’s and Indiana’s guidelines for Social Distancing and Social Gathering Limits.

Interment will be at the Mt. Etna Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial donations can be made out to American Legion Post 7 or Honor Flight of NE Indiana both in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.

My memory.. as a childhood friend of Mike(grandson) We would stop by and visit , we also called him grandpa. He was always laughing and making us all laugh too. He even adopted a dog of mine, they gave her the best life.
