Hilda Margaret Baker January 17, 1909 – June 30, 2012 Hilda Baker was born in 1909 in Huntington, Indiana. She was married to Clarence Baker, who preceded her in death. Hilda was an elementary school teacher for thirty-five years in Huntington and then the Ft. Wayne school systems. She was a life-long member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was also the United Methodist Women’s “Woman of the Year” in 2005. Hilda was also a member of Daughters of the American Revolution and PSI IOTA XI sorority. Hilda received her associate’s degree from Ball State University and a bachelor of science from Huntington University. Hilda is survived by her children, David Baker of Huntington and Mary Hite of Richmond, Virginia. She is also survived by her grandsons Collin, Creighton and Cameron Hite, and Eric Baker, and her great-grandchildren Dameon, Oliver and Lucas Hite, and Emily Baker. Hilda enjoyed life, and was a devoted mother and grandmother. Her family and friends will cherish and remember her forever. The family wishes to thank Faye Leach for helping Hilda during the last several years of her life with loving care while living in Richmond, Virginia. A memorial service honoring Hilda’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 8, 2012 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Huntington. A private internment for family will be held later that day. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Bon Secours Hospice, Richmond Foundation, 5875 Bremo Road, Suite 305, Richmond, Virginia 23226. Services for Hilda will be held on Sunday July 8, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Huntington, with a private family burial to follow at Star of Hope Cemetery.
