Leavelle "Lea" Thornsbury

Leavelle “Lea” Thornsbury, 78 of Fort Wayne and formerly of Huntington passed away on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at her residence. Lea was a loving homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed walking the golf course with her late husband and the occasional trip to the casino.

Lea was born on April 26, 1942 in Ligon, Kentucky, the daughter of Edgar and Mandy (Vance) Newsome. Her parents preceded her in death.

She was united in marriage to Ishmel Thornsbury on June 4, 1965 in Huntington. Ishmel preceded her in death on February 2, 2017.

Survivors include a daughter: Tina (Jeremy) Alexander of Fort Wayne; a son: Michael (Jackie) Thornsbury of Warsaw; three sisters: Rhonda (Dave) Garner, Aretta Scheiber, Annette Little all of Huntington; three brothers: Edgar Newsome, Jr. of Germany, Fred Newsome and Clarence Newsome both of Huntington; three grandchildren: John Michael Polcsak of Fort Wayne, Keegan Beam of Warsaw, Kira Beam of Winona Lake; four great grandchildren: Linkin Gonzalez, Lennox Gonzalez both of Winona Lake, Xander Beam and Zayn Beam both of Warsaw.

She was preceded in death by two sisters: Maggie Stephens, Vonetta “Bonnie” Light and a brother: Dan Newsome.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 22, 2020 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana. Funeral service following the visitation at 1:00 pm. We will be following the CDC’s guidelines for Social Distancing and Social Gathering Limits.

Interment will be at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial donations can be made out to Gigi’s Playhouse - Down Syndrome Achievement Center in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.

Tina and Mike, I'm so sorry for your loss of your mom! She was such a good person that we will miss! I'm sure she and Ishmel are so happy to be together again in heaven!
