So sorry to hear of Phil's passing. I had no idea that he was sick and it came as a complete shock. The family has my sincere sympathy and prayers. I was unaware of any visitations or services until I read it in the Tab this afternoon. Sorry to have missed it.

I so sorry to hear of Phil's passing. I worked with and under Phil at INDOT and I liked him very much and I had great respect for him as both a partner at work, and as a good man.

At work Phil was a great mentor to have when I needed answers to problems on jobs, and he could be firm at times, but always in a very professional manor. He always had the best interest of INDOT in hand and the best interest of the people that worked for him.

Heaven gained a great Godly man, and earth lost a great man at the same moment in time. God bless you Phil. Thank you for being a friend. Your work here is done. Rest in Peace!

I had the opportunity to work with Phil at INDOT and more recently when he was at DLZ. You are in my thoughts and prayers now and in the days to come.

Phil was such a great “lake” neighbor. We’ll miss his friendly smile and welcoming manner. I know I’ll also think of him when I pull onto our car park and see the beautiful garden he built for us. The flowers we plant there will always be a memorial to him.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Betty and Phil’s family.

I was always felt so welcomed at church by you and Phil. You are in my prayers.
I also remember running into you all at Owen's, and Phil helped me pick the perfect watermelon. I still use his advice each time I choose one.
I have no idea how you feel, but I know Phil loved Jesus with all his heart and that he is dancing with Jesus! And you can rest in the fact that with your love of Jesus, you will be together one day and have a special dance.
Praying for you during this time of remembering, loving each other, and continuing to love Jesus!
Many blessings,
Dawn, Emily, and Irene

Linda and Family,
I was shocked to see Phil's obituary, I had not even heard that he was sick. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. It has been over three years since my wife passed away and I know what you are going through. Life has changed for all of you but hold on to each other and your faith in our Lord and Savior he will sustain all of you and give you peace. I considered Phil a friend and one of the finest Christians I knew. He was a dedicated leader to God in his church and community. He will be missed. My relationship with the Ellet, Bear and Dennis families goes back several years, I will always be thankful for all of you. Give Betty & Gerald my sympathy. May God bless all of you.

Phil was a fantastic quiz master for Central conference of the United Brethren in Christ bible quiz program. The kids Loved him! Maybe because he was not as strict as me! They were all sad when he decided to retire.
I remember a trip to Pennsylvania for finals and playing games in an rv. I also loved discussing “state” things with him because we shared the same employer. Not the same job but the same umbrella.
He had a very tender heart. I remember him calling me to make sure my parents didn’t need financial help because he was concerned.
I rejoice that he is now rejoicing with the saints.
