Obituary of Garvie Helen Crowe
Mrs. Garvie Helen Hopson Crowe was born in 1927 in Canton, Kentucky. Her parents, Chris and Lena Majors Hopson were blessed with five daughters: Beulah, Serena, Virginia, Janet and Garvie. Two brothers passed away in infancy. The family permanently relocated to Indianapolis, Indiana and bought a home on the west side of town where Garvie lived her entire life. Garvie married Curtis Lee Crowe in 1947, and together they had four sons: Curtis Jr. (who died in infancy), Mark, Michael and Roger. She outlived her husband Curtis who passed away in 1979, three sons, Curtis Jr., Michael, and Roger, her four sisters Beulah Lucas, Serena Jennings, Virginia Bradley, Janet Harris-Peck, and her oldest grandson, Marlon Dale Crowe. Garvie professed a hope in Jesus Christ at an early age and was a life-long member of Mt. Paran Baptist Church. She worked at RCA as an assembly operator for 23 years before retiring in 1989. She enjoyed traveling around the country with her son Michael and his friend Stephen. They were able to see many cities and states traveling by rail. She leaves behind her son Mark A. Crowe, Sr., daughter-in-law Karon, grandchildren Melonie Crowe, Mark A. Crowe, Jr., Resa Underwood, her great grandchildren Juston, MaLisa, Jonae, Taj, Sena, Nile, Hilaiya, six great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews Charles Lucas, Dianna Brewer, Shirley Parott, Herman Bradley, Eloise Johnson, Dennis Bradley, Clarence Lucas, Patricia Lucas, and many great nephews, nieces and friends.
