Obituary of Lawrence Miliam Jinkins
Lawrence Miliam Jinkins 76, of Plainfield, Indiana passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2022. Lawrence was the youngest of nine born November 28, 1945 in Mount Vernon, Arkansas the son of the late Samuel and Alma Jinkins. He proudly served in the Army during the Vietnam War as a crane operator and a decorated sharpshooter. He was honorably discharged February 16, 1967. He was a member of the VFW Post #98 and the American Legion Post #64. Lawrence worked for RH Marlin as a crane operator but quickly transitioned to Union Carbide serving as a machine operator after returning from his military service. Later, he drove gasoline tankers for Sunoco and Amoco companies before becoming a small business co-owner and private contractor for the U.S. Government at the Crane Military Installation. Lawrence rekindled his love for Jesus after meeting Pastor Keith Robinson and became highly invested in the building of Grace Pointe Church of the Nazarene where he regularly attended. Lawrence is survived by his wife of 46 years: Sandra, son: Larry E. (Jeannie) Jinkins, sisters: Ida Abbott and Fay Morgan, grandchildren: Caitlin, Stefan, Nathan (Kasi) Schaller, Kayla Hunt and Cody Rice and five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Eulis, Virtis, Odean, Rachel, SB and Ruth. A visitation for Lawrence will be held Saturday, January 29, 2022 from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM at Grace Pointe Church of the Nazarene, 10951 E County Rd 100 S, Indianapolis, Indiana 46231, followed by a funeral service at 1:30 PM. Lawrence will be laid to rest in Clayton Cemetery, 5884 S County Rd 0, Clayton, Indiana 46118.
