Obituary of Monroe Townsel Jr.
Mr. Monroe Townsel Sr., was born on April 4, 1936, in Starkville, Mississippi. He was the fourth of sixteen to Monroe Townsel Sr. and Mary Jane Jackson Townsel. Monroe grew up in Starkville Mississippi where he attended Robertson Elementary School. Monroe accepted Jesus Christ at a young age. He was very knowledgeable of scripture. Monroe moved from Starkville, Mississippi in the mid-1960s to Indianapolis, Indiana. He was employed for Sodrel Truck Lines Inc., In August 1988 Monroe was named the driver of the month for over 15years of dedicated service. He worked for the company for over 25 years where he later retired. Monroe met Millie Johnson from Sulligent, Alabama once he settled in Indianapolis IN and they later united in married in April 1960. From this union one son was born Reginald A. Townsel Sr. Monroe spent time taking professional pictures at different parties or gatherings for others. He loved to take pictures. His life was driving trucks and seeing the world, he could tell you all the different highways and what the best route would be for you to take to get somewhere. He was proud to let you know that out of forty years of driving her never got a ticket or any violations. He also enjoyed working on cars in his spare time. You could tell him one thing that was going with a car, and he could tell you the complete problem and what to do to fix it. Monroe was called home on Wednesday June 9, 2021, at the age of 85 years, 1 month and 8 days. He was preceded in death by his parents Monroe Townsel Sr. and Mary Jane Jackson Townsel. Along with six of his siblings one sister Anna L. Cannon; five brothers Willie A. Townsel "Buddy", Johnnie Townsel and Joseph T. Townsel Raleigh D. Townsel and Archie Townsel. Monroe leaves to cherish his fond and precious memories, his son Reginald A. Townsel Sr. (Raquel) his caregiver until his final days; five sisters, Bettie L Townsel of Lithonia, Georgia, Mary A. Berry Buford Georgia, Rosie E. Stennis of Seattle Washington, Larcenia Johnson, of Starkville Mississippi, Zavia A. Tipton of Indianapolis; Four brothers, James A. Townsel, Tony R. Townsel of Indianapolis Indiana, Cleveland Townsel, Charlie B. Townsel (Ernestine) of Chicago Illinois; grandchildren Reginald A Townsel Jr, and Raven Townsel, JerrBryon Graves Sr., great-grandchildren, JerrBryon Jr. and JaBari, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
