Rosemary Hickman

85, Indianapolis, died January 8, 2015. She was born February 27, 1929, in Indianapolis, IN, to Allen Stith Clarkson and Hester Ada (Shepherd) Clarkson. She graduated with honors from Harry E. Wood High School (Indianapolis). After years of caring for her family in the home, she returned to the work place as a teller at Merchants’ National Bank, and then retired from Aetna Life and Casualty in 1988. After retirement, she enjoyed daily life at the Indianapolis home she shared with her husband, Kenneth J. Hickman, who preceded her in death in 1992. She is survived by sons Barry S. Weaver (Cynthia) and Roger A. Weaver (Ivie) and daughter Janelle A. Arend (William). Her extended family includes step-children Christine, Bruce, Terri, thirteen grandchildren, and many great grandchildren. Rosemary served her community through volunteer work at Methodist Hospital. She served her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at Fairfax Christian Church as the Sunday School secretary, church treasurer, and provided assistance with the church’s community clothing pantry. She took great joy in various arts and crafts and in being a dedicated pet owner. Her commitment to family and her “servant’s heart” made her a loving wife, devoted mother, and proud grandmother. Visitation will be held Monday, January 12th from 10:00am to 12:00pm at Family Funeral Care, 5791 Rockville Road, Indianapolis, followed by a funeral service at 12:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Floral Park Cemetery. Her memory may be honored by donations to the Greater Indiana Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
