S. Flossie Bell McClendon
May 1, 1935 – October 13, 2020

FLOSSIE (STRAWFER) BELLE FAULKNER-MCCLENDON affectionately known to all her family and friends by her middle name “Belle”, was born on May 1, 1935 in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. She was one of six children born to the late Harvey Faulkner and Annie Lena Williams- Faulkner.
Flossie received her early and high school education in the public school system of Christian County in Hopkinsville, KY, where she graduated from Attucks High School. She professed a hope in Christ at an early age and was baptized at McCarroll Hill Baptist Church in Hopkinsville. Flossie later attended Ebenezer Baptist Church.
Flossie moved to Indianapolis in 1954. She had two children before meeting the love of her life in 1960. Flossie was united in holy matrimony to the late Lonnie Mack McClendon and to the union four children were born.
Flossie held multiple positions. She was a cook in the restaurant business in her earlier years. Flossie loved to cook for her family, friends and neighborhood children. She was a teacher, hairdresser and much more.
Flossie loved family gatherings, planting flowers and Friday night “Game Night”.
Flossie is preceded in death by three brothers; John Thomas Faulkner, Willie H. Faulkner, James Elmer Faulkner, two sisters; Izora Faulkner-Bingham and Estella Mae Faulkner-McGowan.
Flossie departed this earthly life to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at the age of 85 years, 5 months and 12 days.
Flossie leaves to cherish her memory four sons; Jerry Wayne (Bettye) Smartt Sr., Jeffrey Allen (Sonja) Faulkner, Tony Bruce (Barb) McClendon, Rickie Mack McClendon, two daughters; Vickie Jean (David), Pamala Kay (Keith) McClendon Baptiste, 22 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
