Vernon Lee Gaskins

Vernon Lee Gaskins, 79, of Pooler, GA and formerly of Indianapolis, passed away July 6, 2020. Vernon was born in Cincinnati, OH the son of the late Dorlyn and Lyda Gaskins. He was a US Army Veteran and served during the Bay of Pigs. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 723 F&AM and Shrine and a 33 Degree Mason. He was a retired Truck Driver with Yellow Freight after 34 years and was a member of the Million Mile Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Jim, Jack and Ronnie Gaskins and sisters, Nancy Shine and Betty Cales.
Vernon is survived by his wife, Linda (Wildman) Gaskins; sons, Mike and Rita and Tim and Jackie Gaskins; daughter, Tina and Fidel Barbosa; 9 grandchildren, Allie, Joshua, Zane, Morgan, Hannah, Kaylind, Abigail, Sophia, Levi and Fidel, Jr., and 7 great-grandchildren, Marli Mae, Joshiah, Ezekial, Adrianne, Brenna, Lucas and Tanner.
A celebration of Vernon’s life will be held Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Family Funeral Care, 5791, Rockville Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46224. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the service time. Burial will be in the West Newton Cemetery. Mask are required and a limit of 50 people in the facility practicing social distancing. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.
