Obituary of Rose Ellen Shane
Rose Ellen Shane, 80, of Kokomo, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Wellbrook of Kokomo. She was born December 5, 1937 to Ruth (Malott) and Burvia Eckelbarger. She married Kenneth William Shane November 20, 1955. He preceded her in death on September 12, 1996. Rose graduated from Rochester High School in 1955. While her husband Kenneth was stationed at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, CO she was employed at Montgomery Ward store and then transferred to Wards in Madison, WI when Kenneth was stationed at Truax Field. She later accepted a position as teller at First National Bank until her husband was discharged. Once they returned to Greentown, IN she took a job at Union Bank. She then went on to work at Indiana University for 11 years as their administrative accounts clerk. She retired from I.U. but returned to work at the Kokomo Housing Authority for nearly 10 years. Rose was an avid reader, and attended and volunteered at Fairfield Christian Church for many years until she became ill and also volunteered for the Samaritan Caregivers. Rose will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her. Surviving Rose are sons; Kevin Shane (Joanne), Timothy Shane (Deanna), Michael Shane (Tammy), sister; Mary Reed, grandchildren; Nicholas, Cameron, Connor, Fallon, Liam and Delaney Shane, step grandchildren; Jeremy Pratt (Missy), April Reynolds (Kenny), Zak Vaughn and Brie Boehler, step great grandchildren; Andrew, Ian, Katie and Britanny Reynolds, Lincoln Pratt and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are her parents, husband Kenneth, brother Virgil and sister in law Betty Eckelbarger, sister Naomi and brother in law Donald Hutchens and brother in law Sterling Reed. A Funeral Service for Rose will be at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel Friday, March 23, 2018 at 1:00pm with Pastor Lynn Coleman officiating. The family will offer visiting hours Thursday evening from 4-8pm. Entombment will follow Fridays service at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery.
