Shirley Ann Reynolds

Shirley Ann Reynolds, age 82, passed away on September 19, 2019 at her home in Kokomo. She was born on September 20, 1936 in Milan, Indiana to the late Harry and Thelma (Chambers) Lakey.
Shirley grew up on the south side of Indianapolis and graduated with the class of 1954 from Southport High School. She had worked as a librarian at Indian Heights Elementary School from 1968 to 1975, and then served as a secretary to the superintendent at Taylor Community School Corporation from 1975 to 1999.
Shirley regularly attended both First Christian Church and Fairfield Christian Church of Kokomo. She enjoyed being around friends and would have scheduled lunches with them often. She was also an avid card player and loved to watch sports. More than anything, Shirley cherished her family, and she was at every sporting event and activity of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by her children, Lisa (Larry) Griffin, and Jimmy (Dawn) Reynolds; sisters, Joyce McClain and Audrey Littrell; brother, Wendell Lakey; grandchildren, Sara (Nick) Savoy, Kevin (Christina) Griffin, and Bryan Reynolds; and great grandchildren, Alexis, Avery, Aiden, and Noah (her great grandchildren all knew Shirley as “Gigi”).
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in passing by her brother, Gene Lakey, and grandson, Michael Reynolds.
There will be a public visitation for Shirley held at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 24th from 12-1:30, followed immediately by a funeral service. Shirley will then be laid to rest at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Community Foundation of Howard County (215 W. Sycamore St., Kokomo, IN 46901) for the GDTBA Tony Gabriel Scholarship Fund.
