Obituary of Wanita Denman DeSchamps Hale
Wanita Denman DeSchamps Hale,102, Kokomo, Indiana passed away on Friday June 22, 2018 at the Waterford Place. Wanita was born July 26, 1915 in Kokomo to Ward and Marie (Rioth) Denman. She married Danny Hale in 1961 and he preceded her in death in 1965. She is survived by her daughter Carolyn Joan Hill, son Robert Joseph DeSchamps and wife Zenna, step-daughter Vivian Smith, step-son Bobby J. (Reba) Hale, sister-in-law Reva Denman; grandchildren, Charles J. (Sue) Hill, Linda (Tom) Stockdale, Laura (Rod) Weaver; great grandchildren Casey Hill, Corey Hill, Ryan Stockdale, Taylor Purvis, Janzen Purvis; great-great granddaughter Braelynn Brandt. Wanita is also survived by several step grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Wanita graduated from Kokomo High School, Class of 1933. During the 1940's she worked at Reliance Manufacturing. Wanita retired from Delco Electronics in 1980 after 28 years of service, during which she was a member of the U.A.W #292. She attended Burk Street Bible Church for many years. She enjoyed crocheting beautiful afghans and knitting until well after her 100th birthday. She also quilted and was an excellent seamstress. She crocheted many baby blankets and donated them to Linus Blankets. Wanita delighted in her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She remembered all their birthdays and was always anxious to hear about their interests and accomplishments. She was the perfect Mom and Grandma; always there, always willing to help and sacrificed for others. Wanita was preceded in death by her parents, husband Danny Hale, son-in-law Charles W. Hill, sister Betty Snyder, brothers Elmer and Wilbur Denman, half brother Richard Denman, half sister Wilma Denman Phillips, great grandson Blair Stockdale, step-son Rex Hale, and step daughter Marjorie Phillips. The family would like to thank the many kind and dedicated staff at Waterford Place And ViaQuest Hospice who helped care for Mom during her six month illness. And thanks to those who visited and took the time to sit with her and pray with her. Your love and kindness did not go unnoticed. Services will be Thursday June 28, 2018 at 12:00pm at Ellers Mortuary, Webster Street Chapel with Pastor Sam Stevens officiating. Family and Friends may visit from 11:00am until time of service. Burial will follow at Crown Point Cemetery.
