Obituary of Julian Robert Logue
Julian R. Logue, 90, of Liberty, died Thursday evening, November 10, 2011, at his residence. A Union County native, he was born March 5, 1921 to Roger S. and Bertha Stout Logue. After graduating from Short High School in 1939 Julian attended Earlham College. He served in the United States Navy during WWII as a Fireman on the USS Morris and the USS Yorktown. Julian returned to the family farm and married the former Ruth West on December 15, 1946. An active member of the Salem Friends Meeting, he served as a youth group leader and maintained the church and cemetery grounds. Julian was a 69-year member of Liberty Lodge #58 F.&A.M. and enjoyed golfing with the Old Time 5 group. Julian is survived by: his wife; four children and their spouses: Bob Logue; Tom Logue and Sue; Christine Rude and Russel; Steve Logue and Vicky; daughter-in-law: Cathy Logue, all of Liberty; 14 grandchildren and their spouses: Melinda Schlichter and Geoff, Branden Logue and Jessica, Jeff Logue and Becky, Scott Logue and Daisy, Brad Logue and Jennifer, Angela Logue, Leanne Backmeyer and Robb, Ryan Logue, Nathan Rude and Melia, Katie Hollendonner and Tim, Ben Rude, Maranda Rude, Adam Logue and Amanda, Karen Campbell and Kyle; 17 great-grandchildren: Hayden, Dexter, Payten, Jorden, Colten, Sam, Alex, Levi, Hunter, Rhett, Will, Trevon, Olivia, Nadia, Shea, Jace, Wyatt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son: David Logue; his brother: Winston Logue; and his sister: Lois Wise. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, November 15, 2011, at Salem Friends Meeting House at 1:30 p.m. with Paul Ayers officiating. Interment will follow in Salem Cemetery. Friends may visit at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel, Liberty, on Monday from 3 until 7 p.m. and at the meeting house from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service, where memorial contributions may be made to the Salem Friends or to the charity of your choice.
