Coretta Carwile Newman

Coretta Carwile Newman, 82, Lynchburg passed away Saturday, September 15, 2018, at the Heritage Green Assisted Living. She was the wife of the late Howard James Newman. Born July 23, 1936, in Hat Creek, she was the daughter of the late George Samuel Carwile and the late Mabel Bentley Carwile. Coretta was a retired director of materials management and purchasing for Centra Health. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother. In addition to her husband and parents, Coretta was preceded in death by one brother, Carl Chester Carwile. Coretta is survived by her children, Dana Blackwood (Ron) of Lynchburg and Paul Newman (Tonya) of Forest; one brother, Wayne Carwile (Brenda) of Madison Heights; one granddaughter, Ryien Blackwood; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Thursday, September 20, 2018, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
