Dorothy Driskill

Dorothy Dancy Driskill, 88, of Lynchburg, died Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at The Summit. She was the wife of the late Alec Alexander Driskill. Born February 7, 1922, in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late William Hamilton and Edith Hawes Dancy. Mrs. Driskill was a retired school teacher for the Lynchburg City Schools and a member of First Christian Church, where she served as an elder. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Driskill is preceded in death by one daughter, Betsy Driskill Long. Mrs. Driskill is survived by one son Alec Driskill of Harrisburg, PA; one sister, Margaret Lee of Richmond; two grandchildren, Alec E. Driskill, II and Catherine E. Driskill, both of Rehoboth Beach, DE. A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 9, 2010 at First Christian Church with the Rev. David Cobb officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends, 7-8:30 p.m., Friday, October 8, 2010 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
