Albert D. Garrett Jr.

Albert Daniel Garrett, Jr., 91, of Madison Heights, passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2022. Born on June 19, 1931 in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Albert D. Garrett, Sr. and Ethel Maxey Garrett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Barbara Wright Garrett; two brothers, T. Owen Garrett, William E. Garrett and two sisters, Brenda G. Brooks and Dorothy G. Riddle. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps and served during the Korean conflict. After his service was completed, he worked for 36 years at the Griffin Pipe Foundry prior to his retirement. He loved bowling, fishing, visiting Nags Head for vacations and singing. He built four family homes, completed numerous remodeling jobs and was a master gardener. He was always willing to help others and loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his son, Dan Garrett (Becky); his daughter Sharon G. Cash (Ricky); grandchildren Carrie Randall (Tim), Corey S. Cash (Kasie), Jenny Brown (Ben), Daniel Garrett (Rachel); great-grandchildren Caleigh, Avery, Addison, Kadynce, Parker, Killian, Paisley, Landry and Rhys; and a very special nephew, Mike Garrett. A funeral service celebrating his life will be conducted on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Rev. David Garrison and Mike Garrett officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park with military honors provided by American Legion Post 16. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
