Dorothy Martin Inge

Dorothy Martin Inge, 87, of Monroe, passed away Monday, February 20, 2012 at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Frank Leonard Inge.
Born September 10, 1924 in Amherst County, she was the daughter of the late Henley Reed and Florence Staton Martin and was also preceded in death by a son, L. Dudley Inge; two brothers, Gordon Martin and Clarence Martin; five sisters, Frances Mays, Elsie Mays, Nellie Anderson, Lena Gross, and Lauchee Williams and a son-in-law, Tommy Smith. Mrs. Inge was retired from Craddock & Terry Shoe Corp. with thirty-two years. She was a loving mother, grandmother and a devoted member of her church.
Mrs. Inge is survived by one daughter, Florence I. Smith of Monroe; one son, Robert Inge and wife Debbie of Lynchburg; two sisters, Bessie M. Dean of Chesapeake and Catherine M. Moore and husband Tommy of Elon; seven grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; a devoted nephew, Charlie Perdieu; many other special nieces and nephews and a daughter-in-law, Jeannie Inge of Monroe.
The family wishes to thank Mrs. Inge’s devoted caregivers, Belinda Watson, Kim Pugh, Derhonda Graybill, and Teresa Branham.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Amherst Cemetery with the Rev. Glynn Coleman officiating.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at Whitten Monelison Chapel and other times at the residence.
