John Augustus Ledden Sr.

John Augustus Ledden, Sr. John, 97, was raised in Glassboro, NJ in a Christian home. He accepted the Lord Jesus as his personal Savior during family worship at the age of 10. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout and was assistant Scout Master. He later was a leader in developing Boy's Brigade within the Bible Protestant church. Following high School John worked for Owens Illinois Glass Co. as a machinist apprentice and then served in the U.S. Navy as an aviation machinist during WW II. He married his wife Lorraine in 1944 and they enjoyed 75 years of marriage together. They have 4 children, 9 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren and helped raised 19 emergency foster children. After Bible college he began preaching and finished his seminary at Westminster Theological Seminary. During this time as a pastor and teacher he did "tent making". He was a short order cook, a stoker of 3 coal furnaces that heated the 11 story building complex of National Bible Institute, a machinist, a production machine operator, Dean of Shelton College, President of John Knox Jr College, a dairy farmer, a Coordinator of high school work experience programs and raised Arabian horses. John ministered at 7 churches during his life. He had a full life in the service of his Lord. John's strength was applying the application of scripture to everyday life and writing 3 devotional and study help books. He also wrote a Biblical newsletter which he sent to many friends who passed these on to their friends around the world.
