Mary Catherine Watts

Mary Catherine Watts, 65, of Spencer, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2018, at her residence. She was born in Roanoke, VA, May 14, 1953, to Nancy Spencer Grant of Abingdon, VA and the late Robert Wayne Grant. Mary Catherine was a 1971 graduate of Bassett High School and was the former financial secretary for First United Methodist Church in Martinsville. Her father and a son, Robert Michael France, preceded her in death. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, John W. Watts; her daughter, Carrie France Pierce; three sisters, Kimberly Brown, Suzanne Brewster and Virginia Grant; grandsons, Carson Michael Sherman and Parker Grant Pierce. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Martinsville where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Charles Wickham will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
