Obituary of Raymond Curtis Hall
Raymond Curtis Hall, 88, of Stones Dairy Rd., Martinsville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on November 23, 2013. He died at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Mr. Hall was born in Patrick County, December 18, 1924 to George and Mollie Ruth Pendleton Hall. He served in the Army during WW II in the European Theater, 1st Battalion, 143rd Infantry, Company C where he received the Bronze Star along with other medals. His children refer to him as “Our Hero”. He retired from Hooker Furniture after 44 years of service and was a member of Valley Drive Baptist Church. His passion was serving and providing for others. He loved telling his war stories and had a great sense of humor. He also loved reminiscing with his friends from Hooker Furniture. His hobbies included wood working and traveling around the country. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Elizabeth; four sisters, Dovie Hall, Ethel Greer, Lera Mae Chaney and Daisy McAlexander; three brothers, Arthur, Charlie and Edgar Hall; half-brother, Frank Hall and father and mother-in-law, Claude and Ethel Hall. Surviving are two daughters, Janet Montgomery and husband, Jason, Carolyn Jarrett and husband, Mark, all of Martinsville; one son, Richard C. Hall of Martinsville, a half-sister, Everine Chaney of Stuart; two grandchildren, Joseph Wyatt and Jennifer Paitsel; one great-grandchild, Kaden Paitsel; a special friend Virginia Turner and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Martinsville with the Rev. Bobby Rakes officiating. Interment will follow in the Hall Family Cemetery with military honors by the Martinsville-Henry County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at McKee-Stone Funeral Home and other times at his home. The family would like to give special thanks to his caregivers, Glenda Howell, Bernice Millner, Pam and Chris Hanson for their care and devotion to their father.
