Richard W. Golob, 80 of Richmond, VA, departed this life on May 17, 2019. He was born on August 23, 1938, in Johnstown, PA, son of the late John H. and Marie A. (Faix) Golob. He was preceded in death by his brother, Francis L. Golob. Rich enlisted in the U.S. Navy after high school and served a distinguished 25-year career. He was most proud of his service in Vietnam in 1965-66, where he was a Corpsman assigned to serve with the First Battalion, 7th Marines. He also did tours of duty in Italy, the Philippines, and Taiwan. After his naval career, he relocated to Richmond where he worked for several years in Information Technology Support for local hospitals. He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Richmond. Throughout his life, Rich was a diehard, dedicated fan of all Pittsburgh sports teams. Surviving family members include a nephew, David R. Golob (Beverley); and two great-nephews, Matthew L. Golob (Meredith) and Steven A. Golob. Interment will be private.
