Obituary of Sara Pifer DeVictor Bottorf
Sara Pifer DeVictor Bottorf, age 104, passed away February 13 at the Brandermill Woods Retirement Community in Midlothian, VA. Sara was born April 15, 1916, in Jacksonville, PA, the daughter of Malcolm and Lucille Pifer. Sara married Frederick C. DeVictor, who preceded her in death in 1956. In 1959 she married Harold D. "Hoby" Bottorf, who died in 1985. Survivors include son Richard P. DeVictor and wife Barbara, Leland, NC; son Frederick C. DeVictor Ill and wife Karen, Lawrence, KS; daughter Lucille D. Budlong and husband Michael J. Budlong, Midlothian, VA, a step-son, Dale Bottorf and wife Sherry, Cummings, GA. She was also preceded in death by step-son John Bottorf. Survivors also include 10 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She was greatly loved by her family, who all enjoyed getting together for her annual birthday celebrations. She cherished the time she spent with her family. Upon retirement Sara and "Hoby", moved to Florida, where they resided for 30+ years. They both traveled extensively in North America in their RV through the Avion Travel Club. After Hoby's death Sara moved to Wilmington, NC in 2002 to be near her son and his family and in 2012 moved to Midlothian, VA to be closer to her daughter and family. Sara was a self-employed hair stylist in Howard, PA and later owned DeVictor's Beauty Salons in Bellefonte and State College, PA. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Amaranth. She was an avid square dancer and involved in many church activities. One of her many hobbies was collecting antique buttons, which evolved into a nationally recognized button collection. She entered button exhibits in regional and national button competitions, winning many awards and she judged many button shows. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for the wonderful care she received from the dedicated and loving staff at the Brandermill Woods Retirement Center during the last 11 years. A Celebration of Life will be held in the future.
