Sue Harper Schumann

SCHUMANN, Sue Harper, of Richmond, died June 26, 2013. Mrs. Schumann was the daughter of the late Charles Bruce Harper and Mae Ryland Harper. She was born July 20, 1922 in Richmond. She was a 1944 graduate of Longwood College and taught school in both Richmond and Chesterfield. She was married for 54 years to her sweetheart, Louis Albert Schumann, Jr., who died in 2001. Mrs. Schumann was a longtime, active member of River Road Church, Baptist and its Lydia Sunday School class. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Janet Lee Schumann Ramsey. Survivors include her children, Carroll Schumann Savage and her husband Jim of Richmond, Robert H. Schumann and his wife Debbie of Richmond, and Martha Schumann Synnott and her husband Scott of Reston, Va.; her grandchildren, Kathryn S. Anderson and her husband Richard of Houston, Tex., Dr. Lindsey Hacker and her husband Dr. Brian Hacker of Richmond, Corinne Marie Hargrave and her husband Rand of Richmond, Brian Schumann of Richmond, John C. Ramsey and his wife Amber of Grand Cayman Island, Ashley Lee Ramsey of Atlanta, Ga., and Amanda Lee Synnott and Andrew Connor Synnott both of Reston; son-in-law, Carter Ramsey of St. Simons Island, Ga.; and one great granddaughter, Abigail Ryland Hacker of Richmond; her sister, Jean Sellars Hamlett of Richmond; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the staff of Brandermill Woods Health Care Center for their loving care. Her remains rest at the Huguenot Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Road, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday (today). Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of River Road Church, Baptist. Interment will be held Westhampton Memorial Park.
