Bill Sidey, 80, Yorktown, passed away Friday morning, January 26, 2024, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.
He was born Friday, August 13, 1943, in Terre Haute, Indiana, the son of Levon and Katherine (Stiff) Sidey. Bill moved to Muncie in 1960 and graduated from Muncie Central in 1961.
After graduation, he joined the United States Army and served three years in Germany in the 79th Engineers Battalion. He came back to Muncie and worked for Westinghouse, ABB in shipping, welding, and field service operations. On April 20, 1968, he married Kay Wildey in Indianapolis.
Bill served as an officer in the AFLCIO, served on the Comprehensive Mental Health Board, and was a union Steward. He also was a past commander of the Yorktown American Legion.
His parents, Levon and Katherine Sidey, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Kay Sidey; daughter, Aimee. (husband, George) Sidey Koons.
Memorial contributions may be sent to Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Indiana Chapter, 50 East 91st Street, Suite 100, Indianapolis, Indiana 46240.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at the Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304. Military Rites will be conducted by Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard. Private entombment will be in the Elm Ridge Mausoleum.
Family and friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Elm Ridge Funeral Home.
