Robert Allen Harnish

Robert Allen “Rob” Harnish, 56, passed away Thursday, May 14, 2020, at home. He was born Tuesday, December 17, 1963, to Robert D. Harnish and Lola (Smith) Harnish. A lifelong resident of Muncie, Rob graduated from Muncie South. He also took some college courses at Ivy Tech. Rob worked for Ivy Tech in the Student Government Department. He later met and married the love of his life, Melissa Jester. They shared twenty-two years together, and were married for fifteen of those years. They raised children together, and his family was his life. Rob was a musician, and loved playing his guitar. His favorite country music artist was George Strait. He was country through and through, and wore cowboy boots and a cowboy hat. He also liked sitting around the firepit in the yard. Survivors include his wife, Melissa; a son, Zachary Malone; four daughters, Tabitha Renee Pierce, Rebecca Betz, Ashley Harnish, and Brittany Harnish; a granddaughter, Amy Lynn Kelly; and a beloved dog named Hank. Rob was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Darrin Harnish; and a sister, Sabrina Ramirez. A private burial will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2020, at 2 p.m. A celebration of life will be held for Rob at a later date.
