Corene Agnes Alvey Greathouse
October 3, 1938 – January 1, 2013

Corene Agnes (Alvey) Greathouse, age 74, of Nashville, died Tuesday at Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus. Born October 3, 1938 in Brown County, she was the daughter of William Robert and Stella Gertrude (Hatton) Alvey. She was a homemaker and dearly loved her family, especially loved her grandchildren and she enjoyed gardening.
She is survived by three daughters; Frances Lewis, of St. Petersburg, Florida, Lori Watson, of Seymour and Sue Adams, of Columbus; four sons, Donald M. Greathouse, Charles W. “Charlie” Greathouse, Jason Greathouse and David Greathouse, all of Brown County; three sisters, Phyllis Gerard, Nellie McQuery and Nora Sebastian, all of Columbus, nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, William Greathouse and Roy Greathouse, one sister, Annie Purdue and six brothers, Ora Alvey, Sam Alvey, James Alvey, Ronald Alvey, Paul Alvey, Arthur Alvey and William Alvey.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday at the Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home in Nashville with Steve Scott, a family friend, officiating the funeral service. Burial will follow in the Christiansburg Cemetery. Friends may visit the family on Thursday, January 3 from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial contributions be given to the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association.
