Obituary of Dorris Fleetwood
Dorris Fleetwood, age 92, of Nashville, died Sunday evening at the Brown County Health and Living Community. Born August 12, 1921 in Brown County, he was the son of Treva and Vella (Deckard) Fleetwood. He owned and operated Fleetwood Bros. Excavating and R & V Trucking. He was U.S. Army veteran of W.W.II and a member of the V.F.W. and the Bloomington American Legion Post 18. He was also a member of the Free and Accepted Masons and a former member of the Bloomington Elk’s Lodge #446. He had formerly served as the head of the Republican party in Brown County. He is survived by his loving family; his wife, Emma Lee “Emily” (Hornaday) Fleetwood, of Nashville; two daughters, Diane Hardin, of Brown County and Vicki (Glenn) Burton, of Stilesville; special son, Jerry “Red” Floyd, of Nashville; step-daughter, Debra Williams, of Nashville; two step-sons, Tony Williams, of Bloomington and William “Will” Long, Jr., of Naples, Florida; two brothers, Robert Fleetwood, of Nashville and Max Fleetwood, of Marion, Illinois, one sister-in-law, Betty Fleetwood, of Brown County; 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Evelyn Jean “Dean” (Hobbs) Fleetwood, two brothers, Dale and Henry Fleetwood, one sister, Evelyn Rariden and one great-grandson, Lonnie Stacy IV. A Masonic memorial service will begin at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home in Nashville immediately followed by the funeral service. Burial will be at a later date at the Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may visit the family at the funeral home from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday. The family suggests memorial contributions be given to the American Cancer Society.
