Obituary of Janice E. Kylander
Janice Elaine (Bechtol) Kylander, 84, of Nashville, Indiana, passed away surrounded by family on November 8, 2018 in Columbus, Indiana. Janice was born on February 26, 1934 in Dayton, Ohio to Harry and Helen Bechtol. She graduated from Jefferson High School in Jefferson Township, Montgomery County, Ohio in 1952 as Salutatorian of her class. She stayed on at Jefferson School District for nine years as secretary for the high school principal, and then for the superintendent of the school district. She married Chester (Chet) Ray Kylander on February 18, 1961 in Ellerton, Ohio. They moved to Columbus, Indiana in 1962, where they were active members of First Lutheran Church. They moved to Brown County, Indiana in 1971, and became settled in as well- known and loved members of the community. Janice devoted herself to her family and church for years. She was the secretary at the Nashville United Methodist Church for 16 years, and could often be found playing accompaniment piano at many church and social functions all around the county. Janice’s joy in life was her children and grandchildren. Each of the grandkids would argue that they were her favorite. She is survived by her husband, Chet Kylander of Nashville, Indiana, son Chris Kylander (wife, Mandy) of Fairfield, Ohio, daughter Linda Brinegar of Columbus, Indiana, and daughter Libby Zeigler (husband, Bob) of Nashville, Indiana. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Tim Kylander (wife, Vanessa), Mark Kylander (wife, Katelynn), Jonathan Kylander, Christian Brineger, Micah Brinegar, Jennifer (Zeigler) Rickard (husband, Josh), Laura Zeigler, John Wayne Zeigler, and Cole Zeigler, and one great grandchild: Josiah Kylander. Janice was preceded in death by her mother and father, brothers Dean Bechtol and Glen Bechtol, and son-in-law, Mark Brinegar. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, November 16 at Nashville United Methodist Church, 36 S. Jefferson Street, Nashville, Indiana. A Celebration of Life service will take place at 3 p.m. Saturday, November 17 at Nashville United Methodist Church, with visitation one hour prior. The family requests that memorial contributions be directed to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana, 2626 E. 17th Street, Columbus, Indiana 47201.
