Former missionary and world traveler, Kate Kardynal McGrayel, 29, passed away at an unknown time in Brown County.
Kate was born Feb. 15, 1984, in Bloomington to James McGrayel and Christine (formerly McGrayel) Ritzmann.
Kate was a 2002 graduate of Brown County High School and went on to graduate with a bachelor’s from Indiana University in 2006.Kate was a member of Campus Crusade for Christ during college and did missionary work in Germany, India, China and Turkey. In her final years, Kate chose to live as a transient, feeling that she could better minister to the homeless living as they did.
Survivors include her father, Jim McGrayel; mother, Christine (Robert) Ritzmann, both of Nashville; brothers, Abe (Crystal) McGrayel of Nashville, David McGrayel of Bloomington; sisters, Hannah and Angela McGrayel, both of Bloomington; four nieces; three nephews; seven aunts; and two uncles. She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
Kate had a dazzling smile, warm eyes, a generous spirit and a whimsical sense of humor. She did things artfully and thoughtfully, and she leaves behind countless friends and loved ones.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 15 at New Life Community Church with the revs. Darrell Stout and Tim Conboy officiating.
