Mr. James Edward Smith

James E. Smith, 79, of Evansville, Indiana passed away Thursday May 9, 2024. He was born November 14, 1944 in New Albany, Indiana to the late Clyde and Alice Smith. He graduated from New Albany High School and went on to attend Indiana State University. James was a guidance counselor for Princeton Community High School and taught at Ivy Tech. He also taught Drivers Ed, after retirement, he worked at Drive Time. James was a member of the Kiwanis Club and was very involved with Habitat for Humanity. He also attended McCutchanville Community Church. He was a loyal L.A. Dodgers fan and loved Little Debbie’s. James was preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Margie Smith. He is survived by his sons, Aaron Smith and Zack Smith; brother, Ron Smith; and several dear cousins, friends, and loved ones. Friends and family may visit from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. CST on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at Alexander North Chapel, 4200 Stringtown Rd. Evansville, Indiana. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. EST Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Rd. New Albany, Indiana 47150 officiated by Pastor Greg Davis and Pastor Russell Anderson, with burial to follow in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. Friends and family may visit from 11:00 a.m. EST until service time on Thursday at Kraft Funeral Service.
