Violet (Cochran) Tungate, 83 years of age died Saturday, December 1, 2018 with her family by her side. She was born January 10, 1935 in New Albany to the late Gilbert P. and Viola B. (Johnson) Cochran and widow of Howard Tungate Jr. who died in 2014. Violet was a wonderful homemaker, mom, grandma, and wife. She loved to dance at the VFW, play “Seek and Find”, Bunco, and read romance novels. She was very thankful for all the many friends she made after the death of her husband Howard in 2014 and she always loved her children unconditionally. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, brother, Gilbert “Bunker” Cochran and sister Judith Harbeson. Violet will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.
Survivors include her three children, Kathy Ott (Larry), Mike Tungate, Jim Tungate (Kim); seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; sister, Marilyn Hall; and her favorite pet dog “Booger”.
Visitation from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Wednesday, December 5, 2018 and 10:00 am until 12:00 pm Thursday December 6, 2018 at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana. Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 pm Thursday, December 6, 2018 in the Kraft Spring St. Chapel with burial in Veron Cemetery to follow.
