Charles A Pierce, 92, of Newburgh, passed away Saturday, January 11, 2014, at Newburgh Healthcare. He was born January 8, 1922, in Herrin, IL.
Charlie was a WWII Marine Corps veteran and was a member of VFW Post #1114.
He was a charter member of Gateway Baptist Church.
Charlie was a plumber with Local 136. He enjoyed helping his brother Bill work on cars and tractors, Sunday dinners surrounded by family, visits by his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and woodworking.
He was preceded in death by his wife, of 58 years, Mary Jane; parents, Dewey and Bessie (Spangler) Pierce; and brother, Kenneth R. Pierce.
Charlie is survived by his son, Charles “David” Pierce (Connie); daughter, Debbie Kaye Miller (Tim) all of Newburgh; grandchildren Jamie DeCarlo (Mike), Jonathan Pierce (Kimberly), Hannah Miller, and Payton Miller (Jennie); great grandchildren, Evelyn and Alexis DeCarlo, and Leah and Juliet Pierce; brother, William E. Pierce (Bernadine); and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, with entombment in Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may visit Tuesday from 2:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
