Stephen R. Endress

Stephen R. Endress, 69, of Newburgh, IN passed away suddenly Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at his home in Newburgh. He was born in Evansville, IN on June 21, 1949 to the late Eugene and Mary Alice (Loehrlein) Endress. He graduated from Rex Mundi High School, attended Purdue University and was a graduate of Indiana State University. He held a number of executive positions throughout his career, most recently, he retired in 2015 from Air Quality Services. Steve was a larger-than-life personality, who mixed subtle humor and forceful opinions on virtually everything with an ethic of hard work, a buoyant resilience, and a genuine desire to always do the right thing. He was fiercely dedicated to his family, and in recent years gloried particularly in his role as a grandfather. We will miss his always-entertaining commentary, his insights, and his unflagging camaraderie at our family gatherings. He was preceded in death by his parents. Steve is survived by his wife, Debra (Jennings) Endress; children, Matthew A. Endress (Erin) of Ashland, Oregon, Jacqueline J. Endress of Denver, Colorado and their mother, Pamela J. Head of Rogers, MN; grandchildren, Tate, Francis, and Jackie Endress; step-children, Lisa Norton, Sean Faver (Jill), Kimberly Humphrey; step-grandchildren, Steven Norton, Haley Crumb, Chloe Faver, and Gavin Faver; and siblings, Richard M. Endress (Josephine) of Wheaton, Illinois, Janet M. (Endress) Squires (Robert) of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Thom J. Endress (Cindy) of Evansville, Indiana, and John R. Endress (Cherry) of Evansville, Indiana. A Celebration of Steve’s Life will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel officiated by Father Jim Endress with burial at a later date. Friends may visit from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday and 10:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
