When we were young, my sisters and I loved our trips to Elgin, IL to visit our grandparents and couldn't wait for the day set aside to visit Uncle Loyal and Aunt Larraine's house. They even visited us when my father, Gordon Humbracht (Loyal's nephew), was stationed at Hahn AFB in Germany in the late '70s. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to introduce my husband and children to Uncle Loyal on our way through Indiana in 2010. We just planned to come by to say hello and not be a burden. Of course, Uncle Loyal was so gracious and planned a whole day to take us on a tour around Ossian, visited the donut shop, the fire station and paid our respects at Aunt Larraine's resting place. It was a joy to visit with all of the family. I truly treasure my memories of Uncle Loyal!
