Ronald Clare Trussler passed away peacefully on January 11, 2026, in his 95th year.
He is predeceased by his parents Arthur and Christine (Kinton) and older brother Allan (Phyllis). Dearly missed by devoted wife Shirley of 67 years and three children Eric, Brian (Cindy) and Jane (Eric) and nieces Ade ̀le (Reiner), Louise (Bob), and Yvonne.
Clare grew up in Kirkland Lake and never forgot the North and those times. He attended Central school and KLCVI. In 1953 he graduated from the U of T in Electrical Engineering and then spent 3 years in the UK on an English Electric fellowship. He was grateful to have formed some lifelong friendships from that time away and met Shirley when they both returned from England. They married in Vancouver and settled in Peterborough to raise their family. For the next 35 years he worked in the Control Systems Division of Canadian General Electric. He travelled the world in his career working in steel mills, remote mining grinding mills and on Canadian ice breakers. These travels inspired his study of Spanish and later Mandarin. Clare enjoyed sports like skiing, badminton, volleyball and golf and had a deep love of music. For 30 years he was treasurer for the Community Concert Association. Always enjoying theatre and film, he was happy to share many great movies with his retirement community. Travelling with Shirley continued to be a passion but his heart was rooted in the Huntsville cottage and the many happy times there shared with family and friends.
Heartfelt gratitude to all the PRHC B6 and D2 and Princess Gardens caregivers.
Family and friends are invited to gather at the Ashburnham Funeral Home, 840 Armour Rd., on Wednesday, January 21st from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. followed by a Memorial Service at 3:00 p.m. Cremation has taken place.
